Veeam released Update 2 for Backup & Replication 9.5

On May 12th Veeam has released the Update 2 for Backup and Replication 9.5

I’ve updated now my home lab and after testing our production site too. The Update runs fine with no errors, all jobs are finishing successful. From my side there is no reason to wait for installing the update.

Veeam had listen to the customers and has included many enhancements (vSAN 6.6; Exchange 2016 CU5; Storage Vendor support) and fixes.

Upgrade the vSAN Witness Appliance

I’m using vSAN within my Homelab. In this post I explain the update (replacement) of the vSAN Witness Appliance. An update is a replacement in fact. You power up a new Witness Appliance, configures it, disable the Stretched Cluster and reconfigure this one with the new Witness.

Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 1 – Release Candidate availiable

At the beginning of the new year Veeam has built the Release Candidate for Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 Update 1.

With this update it is possible to backup VMs running on vSphere 6.5. You have to open a case at Veeam to get the Release Candidate. Remeber: Those updates are only for testing. Productive support will come with the official update!

Upgrade vCSA 6.0 to 6.5

vSphere 6.5 is now GA. In this post I want to go through the upgrade process of the vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA). First thing I can say. It works really good :)

The upgrade process will create a new machine and transfer all data (you can choose between configuration + events + performance data) from the old one to the new vCSA.

Please think about, when to install the upgrade… All 3rd party software, which is using the vCenter must support the new version. If you have a lab this could be okay, but in your production it is not much fun, if backup or something else fails.
