Official end of C# Client (the king is dead)

After VMware said “The C# vSphere will be replaced by the Web Client” for years now, they will do it really now.

So many VMware Tech Updates from Marc Huppert (@MarcHuppert) where we were told that VMware would discontinue the C# Client in the next release of vSphere. The first times some listeners were a little bit shocked, but after VMware didn’t kill the C# Client for so many times, only a little smile or ‘we will see’ was the reaction from Marc and the attendees on all later Tech Updates.

VMware now has officially announced: “As of the next major vSphere release, the C# vSphere client will no longer be available”

New Fling – vSphere HTML5 Web Client

A few days ago a new Fling was released – The vSphere HTML5 Web Client.

I think one of the things many administrators, technical consultants,… were waiting for (no, praying for).

I wrote down the few steps install the Web Client in connected with a vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) and some functional details.

Update vCenter Appliance to 6.0.0 U2

This article explains the update to version 6.0.0 U2 (6.0.0.20000) of the VMware vCenter Server Appliance.

The update needs to connect an ISO image and CLI commands to be installed.

In this update was an error where the installation stucks at 70%, but in fact the update was complete. Only a manual reboot was necessary.

I prefer the update via Webinterface, but do also watch the progress with the console.
